How to Get the Best Results using the MixItUp with… app:

1. To get the best results, make sure that the iPhone camera lens is clean. A fingerprint smudge will soften the image causing a mismatch.

2. Find a well-lit, single-colored wall to use as your backdrop that is different than the colors in your person/pet. If you were to look at the person you are taking a picture of through the iPhone camera, you should see the person against the wall with no other objects in the frame.

3. Make sure you have a lot of light on the person and the wall. If the room is too dark, then the image will be grainy and the colors will be washed out, making it difficult to get good results. If indoors, try bringing a lamp closer to the person. If outdoors, shaded areas work best.
Auto-iris of camera affects the brightness, therefore:
a. A very white wall will make the person a little dark.
b. A mid-tone wall (ideal), will result in the correct exposure.
c. A very dark wall will make the person a little bright.

4. Be sure the pet or person is moved far enough away from the wall so that no dark shadow is cast on the wall.

5. Launch the MixItUp app

6. Select the background image in which you will insert your pet or friend. You will see the entire image for a brief period. Then you will see only the portion of the image where the person/pet will be inserted.

7. Size and position the person/pet using the example shown that will fade in and out of the picture. To make the person/pet larger in the image, move the iPhone closer to the person. Likewise, to make the person smaller, move the iPhone further away.

8. Be certain that when sizing the person/pet, leave some space so that you see some of the wall to the sides and top of the person.

9. Gently squeeze the shutter button to help keep a steady hand which avoids an out-of-focus image. (Tip: try keeping your finger on the shutter button while positioning and then gently lift your finger off the shutter to take the picture.)

10. Examine the picture that is returned to the iPhone. If you are happy with the pose (eyes open and sized correctly), then press the Use button. If unhappy, press the Retake button to do it again.

11. When the image is finished processing, press Save to save the image to the iPhone’s Camera Roll.
